Dear Friends:
We learned yesterday that Delhi Historical Society's "Under Glass: The Greenhouses of Western Hills" video and teacher's guide will receive an AASLH Certificate of Commendation at the American Association for State and Local History Annual Meeting in Indianapolis on September 13, 2001.
In AASLH's phrase, this is the "most prestigious recognition for achievement in the preservation and interpretation of local, state, and regional history."
Congratulations are in order for Peg Schmidt and John Cusick, co-presidents when the project started; Tony Brunsman and Doris Zeiser, who led the effort and raised to funds; Treasurer Shirley Lyman and the teacher advisory committee, and the DHS board of trustees.
The Society was fortunate to have the talents of Dan Hurley and Karen Regina, who produced and authored the award-winning video and guide. Congratulations Dan and Karen!
Gale Peterson, Frank Dunkle, and the state of Ohio community history grant from the Ohio Humanities Council enabled DHS to commission and print the guide, make copies of the video, and distribute it free to public, private, and parochial schools in the area. Thank you Gale and Frank and OHC!
This outstanding community history project was a team effort, drawing on the talents and support of all of you. And the AASLH award is a tribute to your faith and dedication to the project. I was thrilled to be part of it.
Best regards,
Sue Ann
