Medicinal plants and minerals have been used for many thousands of years, by many cultures, all over the world. Many of these plants have a variety of suggested uses and scientific research has shown that some plants are beneficial and that some others have little or no value. Maley’s fascinating lecture will examine the history, uses, misuses and even the risk associated with plants or minerals used for medicinal purposes.
Matt Maley is a volunteer for and former board member of the Delhi Historical Society. He has reviewed medicinal plant use for over 40 years and used scientific research to assess the true value of plants reported as “used by the Indians or listed in folk lore or by herbalists or just “hear say”.
